I know I most of the time have not a lot to blog but today I have a little more than usual. I`m super excited because I`ve started to continue writing my children`s book, Anestha: An Unlikely Fairy Tale. Not only that, but I`ve also camed up with another idea for a book that will be a collaboration of my sister and I. It`s going to be tons of fun. ;)
Here`s a excerpt from Anestha: An Unlikely Fairy Tale:
Treston and Deina walked through the market crowd.
"Where are you going Treston!" Deina said, as she tried to follow after
him.
"Getting angry won`t solve anything. You know the trade has been difficult
this year. Everyone is trying to do their best to get by." Deina told Treston as
they both rushed past other villagers.
Treston began to slow down.
"I know. It`s just that I promised your father before he died that I would
take good care of you. I don`t feel I`m doing that."
In the middle of the market place they stopped, Deina smiled as she took
Treston`s hand.
"But you are taking care of me, and God is taking care of us.
Father and mother had been in worst situations than we are now. God always
provided for then, and He will also provide for us as well."
Treston looked at Deina and thanked God for the wife He had given
him.
"I know He will."
Treston looked around him and saw all the beauty surrounding their small
village.
"If God can take care of all of this, He can surely take care of us. If
only I could remember that..." Treston thought.
"Come on, let`s see if we can get some bread for our dinner today!" Deina
said.
She pulled his hand and hurried once again through the crowd.
As they neared the baker`s shop hey saw something out of the ordinary. A
straw basket was next to the shop. It was slightly moving and squeaky noises
were coming from it. Deina looked at the basket and then at Treston.
" Someone must have given their pups away, " said Deina.
Treston called out the baker.
"Lenson, what`s in the basket? Some pups or kitten?"
The baker was bending over, gathering small baskets which contained rolls
of bread. He turned around and gave Treston a puzzled look.
"What basket with pups or kittens? There are no pups here nor do I want
any!"
Lenson placed the small baskets on the display table in his shop.
"Why do you ask?" he asked.
"Well, you have a basket here making a bit of noise and shaking some too,"
Treston replied.
Deina picked up the basket and noticed it`s weight. Treston stood near to
her. They looked at each other and Deina began to lift the baskets top. Deina`s
eyes widened as she began to see little hands come to sight.
"It`s a baby Treston! Oh, a baby..."
Treston stood in disbelief.
"A baby?...A baby?!"
"Oh, praise be to God in heaven! Treston don` t you see, God has granted
our wish. We`ve wanted a child since we wed two years ago. Now we can finally
have the family we`ve always wanted!" Deina said. There was a glow to her face
now.
"No...You`re not thinking of keeping it...he...her. We can`t. Not right now
anyways. How could we feed it?"
Treston began pacing back and forth, in front of the baker`s shop. the
baker had gone to his business and had no idea of the basket`s content.
Deina couldn`t take her eyes off the child. There was no doubt the
baby was a girl. She held the infant`s tiny hand in hers. At that moment a bond
was made. This was the kind of bond which you know will stay with you
forever.
"Treston, please come and look at her. Isn`t she beautiful!"
Treston came closer and looked at the child. He took the basket from
Deina`s arms and held it.
"How on Earth did you get to this place? How could anyone leave their child
like this?" Treston thought to himself.
The baby looked at Treston as if she knew what he was thinking. She giggled
and took hold of his finger.
"Looks like she likes you." Deina said with a smile.
All Treston`s thoughts of their economic survival vanished. This surely was
a gift from God, Treston had no doubt about it. He could feel God`s
blessing upon it, right there in the busy market.
Treston looked into Deina`s brown eyes and smiled.
"What shall we call her then?" Treston asked, as he held the baby`s
hand.
At that moment Deina noticed the rich purple blanket the infant was wrapped
in. On the fabric, in gold thread, there were letters embroidered.
Deina looked at Treston and said," Her name is Anestha."
So there is goes! Hope that you all like it and that you leave me some feedback on it. This isn`t the final draft or anything. I`m not even done with the book. I just wanted to update something meaningful and I think this was a treat. ;)
